The Lodgers have found a new home…..
We’re so excited to announce that our most recent feature film ‘The Lodgers’ has been chosen as part of the official selection for the Contemporary World Cinema category at TIFF. This will be the film’s World Premiere and we are chuffed that the film will be screened during the highly competitive opening weekend on September 8th and 9th. As TIFF is considered to be one of the top 4 A list festivals in the world, it is a real honor for this small Irish ghost story to be part of the selection. Made in collaboration with the Irish Film Board and Epic Pictures, The Lodgers is sure to ensnare it’s audience with it’s compelling and haunting narrative.
The Lodgers is set 1920’s, rural Ireland. Anglo Irish twins Rachel and Edward share a strange existence in their crumbling family estate. Each night, the property becomes the domain of a sinister presence (The Lodgers) which enforces three rules upon the twins: they must be in bed by midnight; they may not permit an outsider past the threshold; if one attempts to escape, the life of the other is placed in jeopardy. When troubled war veteran Sean returns to the nearby village, he is immediately drawn to the mysterious Rachel, who in turn begins to break the rules set out by The Lodgers. The consequences pull Rachel into a deadly confrontation with her brother – and with the curse that haunts them.
This gothic horror feature film was produced by Ruth Treacy and Julianne Forde of Tailored Films and financed by the Irish Film Board and Epic Pictures Group (also World Sales Agents). The stars of the film include newcomer Charlotte Vega, Bill Milner (iBoy, Son of Rambow), David Bradley (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), Eugene Simon (Game of Thrones), Deirdre O’Kane (Noble) and Moe Dunford (Vikings). The film was directed by Brian O’ Malley and written by David Turpin. The Executive Producers include Macdara Kelleher and Rory Gilmartin.
