We are thrilled to officially announce our long-awaited revenge thriller ‘Bring Them Down’ will receive its World Premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in the Special Presentation section this September!

The gripping Irish thriller has amassed a great deal of interest online since it was announced and we are beyond excited to finally share some new stills and updates on the film now that its debut is fast-approaching.

Barry Keoghan as ‘Jack’

‘Bring Them Down’ features recent BAFTA winner and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan (Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn) and Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, Possessor, Girls) in a lead role. Alongside Keoghan and Abbott are the acting talents of Colm Meaney (Gangs of London), Nora-Jane Noone (Wildfire), Paul Ready (Motherland), Aaron Heffernan (Brassic, Atlanta) and Susan Lynch (Happy Valley, Unforgotten).

Christopher Abbott as ‘Michael’

‘Bring Them Down’ follows the escalating tensions of two feuding farming families in the west of Ireland, whose actions have increasingly devastating consequences. Abbott plays the role of Michael, the last son of a shepherding family who lives with his ailing father, Ray. Burdened by guilt over the death of his mother, Michael has isolated himself from the world. When a conflict with rival farmer Gary and his son Jack escalates, Michael is drawn into a devastating chain of events, forcing him to confront the horrors of his past and leaving both families permanently altered.

The film will be the debut feature of 2019 Screen Star of Tomorrow Chris Andrews, and global streaming service, film distributor and production company MUBI will be releasing the film in North America, the UK & Ireland, Benelux, LATAM and Turkey – with an exact theatrical date to be confirmed soon. ‘Bring Them Down’ is an Irish-UK-Belgian co-production produced by Tailored Films (Ruth Treacy and Julianne Forde) and Wild Swim (Ivana MacKinnon, Jacob Swan Hyam), and co-produced by Frakas Productions (Jean Yves Roubin, Cassandre Warnauts), VOO et Be tv and Shelter Prod in association with Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán, RTÉ and the UK Global Screen Fund – financed by the UK Government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport and administered by the BFI.  Charades are also handling international sales for the film.

‘The Apprentice’ Heads to Cannes!

This also marks the first instance of Tailored securing two A-list feature film premieres in one year, as our latest international co-production, ‘The Apprentice’, premiered in official competition at Cannes earlier in May!

Left to right: Julianne Forde (Producer), Ruth Treacy (Producer), Maria Bakalova (in the role of Ivana Trump), Ali Abbasi (Director), Sebastian Stan (in the role of Donald Trump), Amy Baer (Producer), Gabriel Sherman (Writer), Louise Tisne (Producer), and Martin Donovan (in the role of Fred Trump Sr).

The Irish-Canadian-Danish co-production is directed by Ali Abbasi (Border, Holy Spider, The Last of Us) and written by Gabriel Sherman, which charts a young Donald Trump’s ascent to power through a Faustan deal with the influential right-wing lawyer and political fixer Roy Cohn.

The film stars Emmy & Golden Globe Award Nominee, Silver Bear Winner Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump, Emmy, Golden Globe Award, and SAG Award Winner Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn, and Academy & Golden Globe Award Nominee Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump.

Tailored Films took to the red carpet for the official premiere at the Lumiére on May 20th, where the film received an 11 minute long standing ovation. We were joined by our esteemed Canadian and Danish producers Daniel Bekerman at Scythia Films, Jacob Jarek at Profile Pictures, and Louis Tisné for Film Institute, and executive producers Amy Baer, Mark H. Rapaport, Emanuel Nunez, Josh Marks, and Grant S. Johnson. It was truly an unforgettable evening and hopefully the first of many premieres of Tailored Films to showcase at Cannes!

Creative Europe Success

Last but not least, we are very pleased to announce that our application to Creative Europe for slate development funding was once again successful this year! This marks our second time securing the fund and we are honoured to have been selected, especially now that we have seen for ourselves firsthand what an immense augmentation the funding can do for our slate. We look forward to propelling this new batch of projects in development and are now entering financing/production on projects from our last successful application with Creative Europe slate funding.
