‘The Apprentice’ to Premiere in Official Competition at Cannes!

We are very excited to announce that our Irish-Canadian-Danish co-production feature film ‘The Apprentice’ will be premiering in official selection at Cannes Film Festival this May!

Directed by Ali Abbasi (‘Border’, ‘Holy Spider’, ‘The Last of Us’) and written by Gabe Sherman, ‘The Apprentice’ is a dive into the underbelly of the American empire. It charts a young Donald Trump’s ascent to power through a Faustian deal with the influential right-wing lawyer and political fixer Roy Cohn.

Over the last year we have worked alongside our esteemed Canadian and Danish producers Daniel Bekerman at Scythia Films, Jacob Jarek at Profile Pictures, and Louis Tisné for Film Institute, to bring the project to life – alongside our remarkable team of executive producers Amy Baer, Mark H. Rapaport, Emanuel Nunez, Josh Marks, and Grant S. Johnson. This film would also not be possible without our fantastic financiers at Kinematics, Head Gear Films, Screen Ireland, Film i Väst, The Danish Film Institute, and National Bank of Canada.

Featuring the incredible talents of Emmy & Golden Globe Award Nominee, Silver Bear Winner Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump, Emmy, Golden Globe Award, and SAG Award Winner Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn, and Academy & Golden Globe Award Nominee Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, the film’s selection at Cannes marks almost one year since we first came onboard the project during our attendance at the Marché last year.

Now coming full circle, we are beyond excited to be directly attached to a project in this year’s programme and cannot wait to share this powerful film with the world at Cannes Film Festival next month!
